word Kodaikanal can be split into two words 'kodai' and 'kanal' which in the
Tamil language means 'gift' and 'forest' rendering Kodaikanal as 'Gift of the
forest'.
The Kodaikanal Lake is one of the most popular tourist place of
Tamil Nadu. This star-shaped artificial lake is located at an elevation of 2285
meters above sea-level. Kodaikanal Lake was constructed way back in 1863 by Sir
Vere HentryLevinge, the collector of Madurai. Fishing and boating is the main
activities in this place.
COAKER'S WALK
A holiday is
incomplete without a visit to the Coaker's Walk in Kodaikanal. A man-made
walking plaza, Coaker's Walk was built by Lt Coaker in 1872. Nowadays Coaker’s
walk which is one of the most popular places to visit in Kodaikanal. Take an

BERIJAM LAKE
Berijam Lake is one of Kodaikanal's most famous tourist

KURINJI ANDAVAR TEMPLE
The KurinjiAndavar temple, dedicated to Lord Murugan, is a

Palani Hills. Tourists can also enjoy a great view from the temple of the
Vaigai Dam. The temple is connected with the flowers of Kurinji which bloom

BRYANT PARK
Bryant Park is a botanical garden very close to Kodai Lake where you can take cottages for stay near kodaikanal.
The park was the brainchild of Glen Bryant, a certain British military officer.
With more than 325 species of trees, shrubs and cactuses, the garden looks
almost like a rainbow when all the flowers are flourishing. An Eucalyptus
